'Westward Hoe—Taming the Wild West Garden'

Ticket holders are invited to tour a half-dozen select private gardens on Colorado Springs’ West Side.

FOX is a non-profit organization organized in 2009 to raise money for the El Paso County CSU Extension Office.

Funds supplement County, State and Federal support of the Extension programs: 4-H,  Colorado Building Farmers, Colorado Master Gardener program, and the Food Safety Education program.

The primary fundraising activity for FOX is its annual garden tour.

Since the tour’s inception in 2011, this popular event has been in various locations around Colorado Springs including Village Seven, the West Side, the Old North End, Patty Jewett, the Broadmoor, and north central Colorado Springs.

The 2019 tour, “Westward Hoe—Taming the Wild West Garden,” revisits the West Side.

Tour attendees observe various gardening practices including water conservation, xeriscaping, deer-resistant techniques and raising vegetables.

Colorado Master Gardeners are available at each of the gardens to answer questions about plants and good gardening practices.

Plein Air Garden Artists and live music augment the experience, and 4-H children have sold beverages and snacks to raise funds for their local clubs.

Tickets are available at select Colorado Springs area garden shops and online at, beginning in March.
