Concept of show:
Several Colorado Springs local “brown” artists will have their portraits taken then overlap their culture or story of identity.

There will also be a video projected or shown somewhere in the show.

Reason for the show:
The question “what type of brown are you?” is something that many non-white people encounter.

This question pulls apart the identity of the individual and forces them to be solely defined to the color of their skin and not who they are as a human.

The artists in the show will have the opportunity to express their identity with holding agency to their own story of who they are as a person within the portraits.

This isn’t just an art show.

It’s event.
