Cottonwood is thrilled to announce a juried show for February, composed of artists of all mediums, coming from within Cottonwood and from across the region.

These artists have brought their best depictions of visual art inspired and based around depictions of words and text.

Word art describes a category of postmodernist art practiced by contemporary artists since the 1950’s.

This type of art making encompasses work that includes words or phrases as its primary compositional centerpiece.

Text-based art featuring words and phrases has emerged in a variety of different traditional mediums as a new tool of expression including painting, sculpture, lithography, and screen printing.

Working within the parameters of art with the focal point of words, this group of artists brings you a noteworthy collection of emotive postmodernist depictions of their world view.
