Yamashita Captures Wildlife in Photos

Well-known wildlife photographer Bryce Yamashita will talk about how his life journey and battle with bacterial meningitis has impacted his photography.

“My presentation will not be your normal monthly discussion on the technical aspects of becoming a better photographer. My intent is to discuss my journey, what I have learned along the way and how it made me a better person,” Yamashita said. Yamashita has had a passion for photography since he was introduced to the pinhole camera in the sixth grade. In high school, he loved shooting street scenes, candids, and landscapes. But in the interim, he put his camera down with the exception of photographing family.

Thirty-five years later, his passion reawakened after a severe illness as he connected with nature and the outdoors. “Immediately, I felt a sense of belonging and an urge to photograph the wildlife around me,” he says. “As my year five recovery anniversary is coming up, I felt it was a good time to look back at how photography changed my life for the better.”
