'Yotse'

We will be premiering new work by Gregg Deal and will be exhibited in the West Gallery at Kreuser Gallery for April!

Yotse is a Paiute word that means to rise or stand up. My work exists within the bounds of rising up, standing up and existing where it is often believed Indigenous people do not.

This existence is so many things, but manifests itself in my work through portraiture, references to popular culture with challenges of identity, understanding and the historical consideration of being one of the decedents of this Nation’s first people.

In my own experience, this work is my own medicine. Medicine for me, medicine for others, but is something that is my life’s work, with Yotse as another chapter in an effort to wield my medicine.
