Jazz 93.5

Music: General ; Public Broadcasting

On October 29, 2017, Cheyenne Mountain Public Broadcast House launched a 24/7 jazz service on translator K228EM at 93.5 FM. This service brings a wide variety of jazz programming to a population of 435,499 people in its 60 dBu interference free zone. Like Classical KCME, the jazz service is locally hosted and programmed from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. each day, and several hosts are active professional musicians. Following the classical model, Jazz 93.5 FM represents the community through airplay of concerts from local jazz venues, recordings of resident jazz artists, and robust promotion of jazz events around Colorado Springs through PSAs and interviews. Jazz 93.5 FM also provides an additional platform for The Culture Zone, a weekly interview/magazine hour, which airs weekly on Jazz 93.5, highlighting the broad range of culture in the Pikes Peak Region. While there is some overlap between the audiences of KCME and Jazz 93.5 FM, the station is thrilled to reach a new audience of jazz enthusiasts and to engage them in the mission to support cultural endeavors in southern Colorado. With continued institutional and personal partnership, Jazz 93.5 can help revitalize and serve as a catalyst for a robust local jazz scene.

KCME 88.7 FM

KCME 88.7 FM, an independent and member-supported public radio station, has broadcast classical music in the Pikes Peak region since 1979. In addition to sharing the world’s greatest classical music with seasoned and new listeners every day, KCME also supports the greater cultural landscape of its broadcast area by providing its audience with unfettered access to news, events, and performers from multi-discipline cultural organizations. KCME broadcasts to Colorado Springs, Manitou Springs, Pueblo, Canon City/Florence, Woodland Park, Cripple Creek/Victor, Chaffee County, south Denver, and Summit County. KCME can be heard worldwide via the internet. KCME is a trusted source of quality classical music and arts content for the people of Colorado Springs and southern Colorado. We are a primarily listener funded non-profit organization dedicated to a vital cultural community by sharing the artistic voices of Colorado Springs and the world, through broadcasting, digital platforms, and community engagement. Via two transmitters and a vast array of translators, KCME is on the air 24 hours a day, 365 days per year, and heard by listeners in Colorado Springs, Manitou Springs, Pueblo, Woodland Park, Salida, Buena Vista, Cripple Creek, Victor, Canon City, Florence, La Junta, Breckenridge, Silverthorne, and many points in between. Live streaming services bring the station’s programs to listeners worldwide. The integrity of the station’s classical music programming is of paramount importance to both KCME management and their on-air hosts. Programming is developed with an eye toward capturing KCME listeners’ attention by not only appealing to their already established tastes but also stretching their collective ear with new pieces and thematic programs that present the genre in dynamic, and often new, ways. While secondary to the provision of classical music, supporting and helping to enhance the cultural landscape of Southern Colorado is also key to the station’s mission. Original shows, like KCME’s Culture Zone, provide a platform for the performers and producers of varied cultural events to share their art, discuss its value and relevancy, and to perform (music, poetry, theatrical dialog, etc.) for thousands of listeners and potential new patrons and supporters. Support of the cultural community extends beyond regular programming as well, with offering free classical music presentation to schools throughout the Front Range where students interact with musicians and performers, learn about classical music, and have a fun, memorable experience.

KCOS Digital Media

KCOS Digital Media is an independently owned local internet radio station. The station plays all genres of Colorado composed music from Monday through Saturday. Sunday features predominantly Colorado blues musicians. KCOS Digital Media is a member of the Blues Foundation. A weekly live broadcast occurs every Wednesday from the beautiful Gold Room, featuring a different artist or band each week. This live broadcast consists of in-depth interviews and performances in front of a live audience. The broadcast aims to mimic the supper club environment and includes a meal catered by Springs Orleans. Each program features a community service segment that showcases an organization or company. KCOS Digital Media also conducts live broadcasts at other locations within the community to actively promote musicians, visual artists, and sponsors. KCOS Digital Media also operates Mountain Kidz Music, a nonprofit that provides children the resources for musical education. The organization solicits instrument donations and maintains a roster of musicians that volunteer their time and talent. The nonprofit also provides music therapy.

KEPC 89.7 FM

For independent, adult alternative, and local music, tune into KEPC, the college radio station affiliated with Pikes Peak Community College. KEPC is a non-commercial station proud to bring you alternative music with the largest playlist you’ll hear anywhere. KEPC plays maximum variety with over 6,000 songs on a regular rotation including local artists you won’t hear on any other station 24/7. KEPC is student/staff operated and all of the personalities you hear on KEPC are all Radio and Television program students at Pikes Peak Community College. This fun experience is a requirement for their Associates of Applied Science degree in Telecommunications Production. This real life training prepares them for the world of commercial radio, internet and satellite radio. Listen and enjoy their progress throughout each semester.

KRCC 91.5 FM

Through rigorous reporting, impactful storytelling and thoughtful music curation, 91.5 KRCC serves those seeking knowledge and an authentic connection to Southern Colorado and the world at large. KRCC is owned by Colorado College and is operated by the college as an extension of its activities in higher education and public service. KRCC offers programming that reflects, to the campus and community, the college's commitment to the liberal arts and concern for a diversity of ideas and people. KRCC is a National Public Radio (NPR) member station.

KRDO News Radio

KRDO-TV channel 13 has been a part of the Southern Colorado community since September 21, 1953. The station was locally owned and operated until June 26, 2006 when it was sold by the Pikes Peak Broadcasting Company to the News-Press & Gazette Company of St. Joseph, Missouri. The Hoth family, which owned the Pikes Peak Broadcasting Company, chose to sell its stations to News-Press & Gazette because NPG is a family owned company that is committed to excellence in journalism and service to the communities in which it does business.

Little London Show

The Little London Show is a weekly half-hour radio program dedicated to looking at Colorado Springs through a young professional’s point of view. They ask questions about everything from public policy to breweries, pot-holes to running trails. Their goal is to dive into what makes Colorado Springs the city it is now, and where it may be heading. Listen to the show live on KCMJ 93.9 or on demand. Little London was one of the nicknames given to Colorado Springs back when it was a haven of art, creativity, and culture on the edge of the Wild West. The Little London Show feels that Colorado Springs is on the verge of once again being a haven for art, for businesses, for creativity and for culture – but only if the community raises its voice and supports the things this city loves. What do you support? Let the Little London Show know! They want to talk about it on air. The Little London show also hosts events each year. For example, they host competitions like Dryanuary, sponsor a Bike to Work Day stop, etc.

Pikes Peak Amateur Radio Emergency Service (ARES)

The Amateur Radio Emergency Service (ARES®) is the emergency communications division of the American Radio Relay League (ARRL). Pikes Peak Amateur Radio Emergency Service (PPARES) is an organized group of amateur (ham) radio operators whose goal is to provide emergency communications for both government and private agencies in the Colorado counties of Teller and El Paso when called upon. PPARES strives to enhance the reliability, quality and professionalism of Amateur Radio Emergency Service (ARES®) personnel, through the establishment of training and performance standards, policies, procedures, management and supervision. Pikes Peak ARES® provides public safety and public service communication support using HAM Radios when conventional communication systems are damaged, destroyed, overloaded or otherwise unavailable. PPARES tailors its communication services to the needs of its served agencies, which may be any governmental, law enforcement, fire, medical, disaster relief or non-profit agency/organization in El Paso and Teller Counties. Pikes Peak ARES® members receive emergency communication and preparedness training through courses offered at the district, section and national levels. We routinely test our capabilities under emergency conditions during disaster exercises and public service events. Not only do we provide our served agencies with trained communicators, but communications equipment and technical expertise/assistance as well. Pikes Peak ARES® also participates in the local Skywarn® program which utilizes amateur radio weather observers (spotters), trained by the National Weather Service (NWS), to provide ground truth weather observations directly to the NWS Pueblo Forecast Office during weather events such as severe thunderstorms, tornadoes, hail storms, floods and blizzards.

PPRAA is an American Radio Relay League (ARRL) amateur radio club in El Paso county, Colorado with a club station in Ellicott, CO. We are a 501c3 non-profit organization which promotes many aspects of ham radio including STEM, public service, experimenting, contesting, and recreation/fellowship. We do provide instruction and testing for aspiring operators.

PPLD: Local Music Project

The Pikes Peak Region has a vibrant and diverse music scene which contributes to and enhances the unique cultural identity of the area. Pikes Peak Library District’s Local Music Project (LMP) aims to connect our community’s talented musicians with listeners by providing a platform from which artists may be discovered and their music heard. PPLD's Local Music Project features music and information about musicians and music ensembles whose original work has a definitive local connection, being composed, performed, produced, and/or recorded in the Pikes Peak Region.

Rocky Mountain Public Media is the parent company of Rocky Mountain PBS, KUVO Jazz, and The Drop. Rocky Mountain PBS began in Denver in 1956 as Colorado's first public television station. It is now Colorado's only statewide television network, with stations in Denver, Pueblo/Colorado Springs, Steamboat Springs, Grand Junction and Durango. Rocky Mountain Public Media is Colorado’s largest statewide, member-supported, multimedia organization.

Tim Gill Center for Public Media

This organization is no longer active. The Tim Gill Center for Public Media is a collaboration established in 2012 working to connect people, expertise and resources to create and distribute new citizen journalism content that tells stories that would otherwise go untold. Rocky Mountain PBS is the convening partner with the following collaborators: Pikes Peak Library District, KRCC 91.5FM, University of Colorado – Colorado Springs, Pikes Peak Community College, andRocky Mountain Community Radio. Like a car on the road, our collaboration has many moving parts. Investigating those parts is like gearing up for a road trip, making sure we’ve got the right fuel, vision and direction for the exciting road ahead. Clarifying how we work together has gotten us in the same space, buckled in for adventure, with our headlights aimed in the same direction—illuminating the human experience and enlightening our world.

Tri Lakes Radio

Tri Lakes Radio is a community based internet radio station located in downtown Monument, Colorado that focuses on bringing local news and entertainment to Tri Lakes. The station thrilled to be serving the Tri Lakes communities with the first ever broadcast station based in Monument. Tri Lakes Radio started in September 2015 and continues to bring the Tri Lakes Region local music, talk, news, and weather. Conveniently located historic downtown Monument, the station strives to serve listeners with current information about the community.
