Pikes Peak Writers is committed to helping writers grow and thrive through education, outreach, and community.

Pikes Peak Writers Conference was founded in 1993 by author Jimmie Butler under the auspices and sponsorship of the Friends of Pikes Peak Library. The inaugural conference centered on “Useful Tips for Writing Commercial Fiction,” and enjoyed sponsorship by the Friends of the Pikes Peak Library District and The Kennedy Center Imagination Celebration.

After many years of successful conferences, the core group of volunteers formed their own parent organization in 2001, Pikes Peak Writers, as a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing quality education for writers year-round. The conference has achieved top ten ranking among U.S. writers conferences by Writers Digest Magazine. Non-conference events have blossomed to more than 30 free and low-cost events, including monthly Write Brain sessions, periodic writing workshops, and a host of other fun and educational meetings and events.
