Shakti Dance Troupe
The Shakti Dance Troupe is a dance group comprised of Tejas Hemsell and the students of Shakti Dance School. Tejas Hemsell teaches Odissi East Indian Classical Dance as well as Bollywood Dance at the school.
Odissi is an East Indian Classical Dance from Orissa in East India. Odissi is an ancient and spiritual dance that was originally performed in temples and kingdoms. It dates back to the 2nd Century BC and is performed as an offering to the divine.
Bollywood is song and dance from Indian movies. It is a fusion of different cultural dance styles with a strong base of Indian Classical Dance and Indian Folk Dance.
