Patsy paints as a natural response to an inborn talent which was bound to seek and find its outlet for capturing the unique beauties of God’s creation.

From early childhood, her love of drawing was strong, but her obvious talent remained untapped and lay dormant until she was 62 when she suddenly became laser-focused on this life-long gift.  She flew across the country to attend a four-day portraits-in-pastels workshop, and just two years later two of her portrait paintings were juried into an international show.  An honorable mention was awarded for “In Daddy’s Safe Grip.”

She had quickly gone from barely knowing what pastels were and wondering why pastel paintings are called paintings to an admired artist, and she began taking commissions.  Four years later, in 2019, she began submitting her work to more juried shows, which has resulted in acceptance of six of her paintings into three different shows, with three of her paintings being finalists in an international competition.

Her work is known for its striking realism which she achieves using a method rarely used by her fellow pastelists.  She calls it adult finger painting, since she uses her fingers to manipulate the pigments to blend and smooth them for optimum realism results.
