Ron Cousar has played R&B, blues, and jazz for many years. In addition to studio work with Savoy Records, he has played with bands in New York, New Jersey, Chicago, Baltimore, and now Colorado Springs. He has dedicated his talents to West African Percussions, playing blues, R&B, funk and jazz. His influences include Buddy Guy, John Lee Hooker, Robert Johnson, and a host of other artists.

Dr. Wanda Tisby-Cousar storytelling and dance to coach innovation and artistic ability. Sande Leadership, a model Dr. Wanda developed, is based on ancestral lineage to the Mende of Sierra Leone, West Africa. Tisby-Cousar has studied tap, ballet, and interpretive dance since the age of four with Sydney King School of Dance and performed with Afi West African Dance Ensemble in Colorado.

Our performances include options of West African Dance and Percussion, Storytelling popular with families with children. Drumming Circles are also new. Tap Dance and Jazz programs are accompanied by guitar. Blues and Blues songwriting is an option. All programs are 1 hour or 1.5 hour performances depending on group size of instruction and engage communities in the historical transition from traditional to contemporary dance. Tap Dance combinations performed are in the Hoof and Broadway styles while teaching the origins of dance and instruments while demonstrating the innovation of rhythms that has engaged audiences of various age groups, cultures, and intellectual and physical challenges. We have developed unique styles from childhood to adulthood as lifelong performing and teaching artists.

As a Curbside Culture host site, you will be responsible for (1) providing electricity by running an extension cord to the performance location, and (2) gathering a small audience to enjoy the performance. Pricing and performance options are listed below, and all financial transactions should be conducted directly with the performer, in a mutually convenient manner.

  • 60 minute program: $300
  • 90 minute program: $400
    Performances less than 1 hour will be negotiated based on group size and client needs.

Launched in 2020 by the Cultural Office of the Pikes Peak Region, Curbside Culture brings the performing arts out into the community by facilitating small-scale live performances outside of private residences, businesses, cultural venues, assisted living facilities, and local gathering spots. If the performance site becomes unsafe at any time, performing artists reserve the right to leave immediately–without any obligation to reschedule or provide a refund.
