Born and raised in Johannesburg, South Africa, Sandy’s degree and early career focused on the corporate world of Marketing and Public Relations. After almost two decades in this role, Sandy’s progression to create beautiful pieces of jewelry seemed natural. Her unique design vocabulary encompasses a wide range of techniques and influences: organic shapes and textures; smooth sinuous lines and curves juxtaposed with angles; tribal African designs and motifs—all products of Sandy’s heritage, travels and experiences. She continues to refine her skill as an artist, studying with Masters such as Harold O’Connor, Michael Boyd and, more recently, Michael Good. She has been represented in various galleries around the country and her work is evident in private collections around the world. In addition to her job as Cottonwood’s Executive Director and producing her line of distinctive jewelry, Sandy offers private and group classes. More of Sandy's designs can be seen at her website, murphyoriginals.com, at Cottonwood on Tejon at 8 S. Tejon, in Gibson's at The Broadmoor or her studio at Cottonwood Center for the Arts. Sandy can be contacted by email (murphyoriginals@msn.com) or by phone at 719-650-8097
