Dennis Bueno, born of Spanish decent from Trinidad, Colorado, has been active in music since early childhood. From the days of experiencing his grandfather play the violin and sing popular folk songs, dance and music became a playground and passion. Dennis began to study music at the age of 5 on accordion. During those early years he would perform popular songs for family and friends at parties. Dennis took on an interest in percussion at the age of 10. His early inspiration was an uncle who taught him his first rudiment, the paradiddle. After several years of private instruction he went on to study and perform with Drum Corps of the East Coast where he honed much of his drumming technique with the renowned Hurley brothers. Dennis also played in his high school jazz bands as well as local rock and funk bands. After high school, Dennis attended the competitive and prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston with the likes of Kevin Ubanks, Vinnie Colaiuta, Kenwood Dennard, Bruce Hornsby, and many more. While there he had the privilege of studying with Gary Chaffee, Keith Copland, Bob Wagner, Joe Hunt, Dean Anderson, Greg Hopkins, James Williams, John Laporta, and many other great mentors. Dennis went on to serve in the Air Force as a percussionist in the NORAD Band and the Air Force Academy Band. Dennis performed throughout North America with countless celebrities at a variety of venues. He has performed with Dave Valentin, Earl Klugh, Jesse, J., Spencer Day, Steve Barta, Dotsero, Richard Groove Holmes, Blue Steel, Wild Blue Country, The Falconaires, Peter Duchen; he has opened for Andy Montenez, Kool and the Gang, Sarah Vaughn. Dennis stays active as a leader in the Colorado Springs area with his own Latin-based projects. He is associated with many successful local groups and artists such as Frank Finelli, Ken Miller, Lila Mori, Mark Israel and Uptown, The Steel City Band, Bobby Montoya, Kenny Gonzalez, Carlos Crull, Otis Bump and the Ripe Tides, The New G, Magic Dave, The Rudy Guiterrez Band, Tom Taylor Band, Michael Braumbaugh and Emotions, Geoffry Lee Band, Alice Cardozo, Stephanie Hancock, Bruce Pennington, Eric Gunnison, Alan Joseph, Kenny Walker, Phil Sparks, and Chris Lawson and Just Friends. Now, after years of school, countless hours of working as a professional musician, and even as a computer networking professional, Dennis passionately embraces his early influences of musical performance and dancing through his love of music. Dennis plays Drum set, Timbales, Conga, Cajon, and Bongo. Dennis is a leader of unique Latin jazz and Salsa projects.
