Tom is a retired teacher who now works with various organizations, schools, and private concerns performing a number of one-man shows. The presentations last a little over an hour, but can be reduced to 20-30 minute shows tailored to the audience. The usual re-enactment portrays Zebulon Montgomery Pike, and his dangerous journey while exploring the Southwestern boundaries of the Louisiana Purchase in 1806-1807. The mission of the "Friends of Pike" (Mr. Rollings' non-profit organization) is to "keep history alive and sponsor civic projects." One such dream is to dedicate a memorial to Zebulon Montgomery Pike in Colorado. Mr. Rollings also tells other stories, and has a roughly 45 minute tale based on "The Fisherman and his Wife," a Grimms Brothers fairy tale. This story has positive religious over tones and is somewhat humorous. Presentations have taken place in conference rooms, churches, outdoors along rivers, during festivals, in forests, and in outside buildings. Traveling from Chaffee County (Buena Vista area) to locations in nearby counties is not a problem. E-mail or call 719-395-5786 to check for scheduling possibilities.
