Originally, Mel is from Panama City, Panama. She came to the United States and stayed in Colorado, having lived in Colorado Springs since.

Mel's inspiration comes from kid's books, movies, music, and different cultures. Most of Mel's time is spent creating new pieces, visiting galleries, and learning new ideas from older artists. Every day is an opportunity to improve and grow in art, and it is the only thing that has watered Mel's hopes and nurtured perspective as a nontraditional artist.
