45 Degree Gallery is featuring a new original collection by local painter Lorraine Danzo. Lorraine will be demonstrating her new technique during the September 4 ArtWalk from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. In this collection, she hand colors and textures paper then cuts and assembles the bits and pieces into impressionistic landscape collages. Find a variety of sizes with prices starting at just $37.

Join us starting at 5 p.m. on Friday Sept. 4 for a virtual tour of our September shows. Shawn Ho is an artist residing here in Colorado Springs, originally from Taiwan. The collection of images on display are memories of his grandmother’s village…now gone. Come see the beauty of his memories and hear his story. Also on display is the Annual Miniature and Small Works show. Showcasing 17 artists, this is a judged exhibit with cash prizes. Awards will be announced at the 3rd Friday Reception on Sept. 18 at about 6 p.m.

The Bridge Gallery is the oldest contemporary fine artist’s cooperative in Colorado Springs; begun in 1994. The members are professional artists who also teach art or work in art-related jobs. Join the gallery for an exhibit of new sculptures by Liz McCombs, featuring birds, beasts, spirits, and deities of nature.

The Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center at Colorado College

The Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center at Colorado College is home to a nationally-renowned collection of Hispanic and Native American art, including a collection of santos (religious representations of saints) from New Mexico and southern Colorado. Join FAC staff and the creative team behind a recent project focused on the history of the collection as they reassess the preservation, curation, and the display (or non-display of) sacred objects. Together they will explore possibilities for re-contextualizing the past and re-imagining future care for the collection of santos, centering its creators and their descendants as makers and negotiators of its meaning. Panelists include 3×3 Project team: Miguel Gandert, Jessica Kahkoska and Anita Rodriguez with Fine Arts Center museum staff.

Find a new show by artist John Odlin, who states that he creates art “through the successful interaction of elements such as composition, color, line,shape, etc. My current work is non-objective.” Odlin currently works with three interrelated media: screen paintings, monoprints and irregular print paintings.

Join UCCS Faculty to engage in a conversation at the “Intersection of Race and Religion” to feature four panelists discussing the complex relationship between two of our most polarizing, yet important aspects of societies. From the ways in which religion has been used to perpetuate racial superiority to the ways in which religion has been used to fight for racial equality, it is clear that the two intersect with each other in dynamic, if not often troubling ways. Our panelists will comment on these and other more nuanced facets of the association between race and religion with special attention paid to our current moment of racial reckoning occurring in the United States.
