Explore the ABC’s of architecture!

We’ll read Arches to Zigzags by Michael J. Crosbie and explore the details of the museum’s home, the 1903 El Paso County Courthouse, with an indoor-outdoor picture hunt!

How many letters can you find?

Children ages 3-6 and their favorite adult are invited to explore regional history through story time, a family-friendly tour, activity and craft.

Make a morning of it! After the event learn through play in our interactive “Trade at Bent’s Fort” children’s exhibit or explore the museum with Max the Marmot by picking up a Picture Hunt at the front desk.

Bent’s Fort – Interactive Children’s Gallery    

CSPM’s Children’s Gallery exhibit, Beads, Blankets and Buffalo: Trade at Bent’s Fort, gives children, ages 2-10 an interactive, hands-on experience of a “day in the life” at Bent’s Fort. Bent’s Fort was a multicultural place of trade and exchange along the Santa Fe Trail in the 1830s and 1840s. In the exhibit, children can explore a carpenter’s shop, trade counter, kitchen, tipi and a Santa Fe Trail wagon! Drop in anytime, no RSVP necessary.

Scavenger Hunt

Bring family and friends and take a scavenger hunt! Stop by the front desk, grab a pictorial scavenger hunt sheet and search for items throughout the museum. It will ignite young curious minds and help them discover stories about our community’s history and geography! When you’re finished, stop back by the front desk and receive a prize! Drop in anytime, no RSVP necessary.

The Story of Us: The Pikes Peak Region from A – Z

The Story of Us is an ongoing exhibit lets users to explore the history and geography of the region using 21st Century technology. Open a letter from A – Z and learn about the people, places and events that make our region unique. Navigate dynamic maps that allow you to go back in time to understand how neighborhoods, businesses, climate, and transportation have shaped our community. Where do you fit in? Come and discover your place in local history through The Story of Us! Drop in anytime, no RSVP necessary.
