Chautauqua Presentation Featuring General William ...

Presented by Victor Heritage Society at Saint Victor's Catholic Church

Bring your family and friends to a free Chautauqua Presentation featuring General William Jackson Palmer (portrayed by Dave Harmon).

General Palmer is best known for founding the City of Colorado Springs and developing railroads that linked Colorado with the rest of the nation.

Palmer’s Denver and Rio Grande Railroad provided connections to the three rail lines that served the Cripple Creek and Victor Mining District by transporting passengers and supplies to and from the District, and making it possible to ship gold ore to processing mills located in Florence, Pueblo, and Colorado Springs where water and coal water required for their operation was more plentiful and cheaper.

This free event is sponsored by the Victor Heritage Society in honor of the 125th Anniversary of the Incorporation of the City of Mines in 1894.

This is also a great opportunity to see the beautifully restored interior of the historic Saint Victor’s Catholic Church.
