2022 Flight Gala and Auction

2022 Flight Gala and Auction

Presented by Rotary Club of Colorado Springs at Boot Barn Hall at Bourbon Brothers

The Rotary Club of Colorado Springs, founded in 2016, has raised over $1 Million since 2008 auctioning artistically painted metal butterflies which you may see on display around Colorado Springs. This year the Rotary club celebrates fifteen years for the annual fundraiser. Over the years, Colorado Springs Rotary has donated a significant portion of the proceeds from the sale of painted butterflies to Colorado Springs School District 11 and the club's own Community Service Fund, a 501(c)3, which makes grants to other Colorado Springs organizations plus national and international projects related Rotary International.

Over the past 14 years and again in 2022, there was and will be a live auction for the painted art. The butterflies available for purchase from the auction were originally one size suitable to place on a buried stake in one’s yard. Over the years, a medium size, dragonfly, and petite (suitable for table display) have entered the artistic offerings. Up until 2019, the auctions were in-person. Due to Covid, they became virtual events with similar fundraising success.

For 2022, the auction will be a hybrid event with bidders online and in person at the Boot Barn Hall on the north side of Colorado Springs the evening of September 24th. A preview of the art took place on September 2nd at the Colorado Springs Pioneers Museum with the garden-size butterflies and dragonflies placed on metal stakes on the museum lawn through September until the September 24th auction. At the September 2nd evening Grand Reveal, the petite butterflies were on display in the museum and that evening were flown down to Kiowa Street for display at The Lawrence Dryhurst Gallery during month of September where you may see them today.

Your participation in Flight XV whether as an artist, bidder, or sponsor, helps generate money for our Rotary Community Service Fund (a 501c3) which supports community and international projects with an emphasis on education, those in need, and doing good in the world.
