In this workshop, you will be guided through painting a simple seascape, equipping you with helpful tools in realistically portraying that great profundity.
Intro to Painting the Seascape in Oils, taught by local artist Daniel Christie.
From Homer’s Odyssey to Melville’s Moby Dick, saltwater waves have splashed through the pages of literature into our imaginations and have been brought to life for us by great artists like Rembrandt, Gericault, and Aivazovsky. In this workshop, I will guide you through painting a simple seascape, equipping you with helpful tools in realistically portraying that great profundity.
Age: 17 +
Cost: $50 including materials OR $25 if you want to bring your own materials (canvas, paints and accessories there will be no materials fee, only class cost at $25).
The materials will include oil paint, non-toxic mediums/solvents, canvas boards, paper towels, gloves, solvent containers.
If you prefer to use your own oil paints or brushes, feel free to bring them, but all basic materials will be provided. If you do bring your own equipment, please make sure that your mediums or solvents are non-toxic for the safety of yourself and others.
When: 1-4:30PM Saturday, January 25th
Class Size: Minimum 3, Maximum 10
