Learn how to piece fabrics together to create different shapes and patterns in a variety of ways! We'll be starting with piecing fabrics of the same size together and move towards getting creative with improvisational piecing. Bring in your dyed fabric samples and scraps from previous projects and repurpose them into beautiful pieces of art with a sewing machine!
Student supply list: variety of fabrics (store-bought, dyed or both). Some fabrics will also be provided to add to projects
Class Level: Fascination – These classes will introduce you to a new skill, concept or technique and are open to all levels. Working knowledge of a sewing machine required.
Instructor Bio: Julia Bannerot is a multidisciplinary artist, however she works mostly with clay and fiber. Her work explores themes of interconnection, vulnerability, and ambiguity. She grew up in Colorado Springs and received a BA in studio ceramics from the University of Northern Colorado in 2018.
Why I Dye: I dye because I love to experiment and I get so excited for the reveal. I sew because I enjoy how meditative it is. I create because it's the method through which I express myself, and when I get impassioned I feel an urge to create something.
