Pieced Throw Pillow

Pieced Throw Pillow

Presented by Textiles West at Textiles West

The instructor for this class is Julia Bannerot.

Learn the basics of sewing and piecing with a fun project that you can take home and use in your house. Incorporate pattern in your stitching through piecing with shape and color in a simple throw pillow. Bring in your dyed fabric samples and scraps from previous projects and repurpose them into a beautiful, unique throw pillow. I will supply the 16" pillow form.

Student supply list: variety of fabrics (store-bought, dyed or both) I will also be providing fabrics to add to projects

Class Level: These classes will introduce you to a new skill, concept or technique and are open to all levels. The student may, however, be required to have a basic skill or have taken a certification class. For example, for a flat-pattern drafting class one need not know anything about flat-pattern drafting but should have a basic understanding of the sewing machine. Any prerequisites will be listed in the class description.

Instructor Bio: Julia Bannerot is a multidisciplinary artist, however she works mostly with clay and fiber. Her work explores themes of interconnection, vulnerability, and ambiguity. She grew up in Colorado Springs and received a BA in studio ceramics from the University of Northern Colorado in 2018.

She dyes because she loves to experiment and gets so excited for the reveal. She sews because she enjoys how meditative it is. She creates because it's the method through which she expresses herself, and when she get impassioned, she feels an urge to create something.
