Apple Grafting Workshop

Apple Grafting Workshop

Presented by Smokebrush Foundation for the Arts at Red Crags Arts and Agriculture House

Kelsey Pazera leads this workshop.

Have you always wanted to learn how to propagate you own apple tree? Well the time is now.

In this workshop we will explore the history of grafting as a propagation method, different methods of grafting, the importance of history and diversity of apples in North America, and have hands on time for you to practice grafting.

Each participant will receive three apple rootstocks with their registration to work on in class and take home to nurture into trees. Scion wood of different cultivars will be provided by the instructor as well as practice wood, but you are welcome to bring wood off of an apple or crabapple tree you want to propagate.

Registration is limited. Please send us a message if you would prefer to pay with cash.

Kelsey Pazera Bio:

A growing fruit and apple enthusiast, Kelsey apprenticed at Tooleys Trees in Northern New Mexico for the last three years with Gordon Tooley learning holistic orcharding. During this time she had the pleasure of spending time learning from many knowledgeable community members, Dan Bussey at Seed Savers Exchange (who just published a seven volume set of all the apples that have ever been cultivated in North America), and with Michael Phillips, who is renowned for holistic orcharding practices. Kelsey continues to do private consulting and orchard work in NM and CO.
