CANCELED: Talking Trees: A Choreopoem

CANCELED: Talking Trees: A Choreopoem

Presented by University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS) at Ent Center for the Arts

Out of an abundance of caution, The Ent Center for the Arts has chosen to cancel or postpone all performances scheduled between now and April 30th.

The UCCS College of Education, Department of Counseling and Human Services is supporting Talking Trees, Inc. to bring awareness of adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse to the forefront of Colorado Springs.

Talking Trees, Inc. is an empowerment organization that supports adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse. April 15, will mark its 10thanniversary.

Dr. Rosenna Bakari wrote and produced a play called Talking Trees: A Choreopoem in 2010 in Iowa. It will be performed in Colorado for the first time this year.

This play informs the audience about the internal challenges of living in silence. The play is based on poetic prose and dialogues that are nonlinear.  There are no physically violent scenes spoken or acted out, but the performances are intense and provocative.

This is a one-act play. Immediately following the performance, the audience will be invited to remain seated to meet the cast and ask questions about their experience in the performance. Information about adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse will also be available following the performance.

The cast consists of four females and two males to tell the story of why silence is not a quiet space.
