Come join Peak Alliance for a Sustainable Future to learn about alternative-fueled vehicles and infrastructure and public transit in the Pikes Peak Region at its monthly Sustainability in Progress (SIP) event.

Ms. Megan Carpenter, Clean Cities, will bring us the latest on alternative vehicles, fuels, and infrastructure.  Mr Craig Blewitt, Mountain Metro Transit, will give us an update on the transit system in the region.

Applicable goals in the sustainability plan, Looking to Our Future: Pikes Peak Region 2030, related to energy and transportation systems:

• Half of all transportation-related fuels purchased in the region are renewable and/or sustainable and transportation-related fossil fuel use is reduced by 40% from a 2010 baseline.
• There is decreased reliance on single-occupancy-vehicle modes of travel with public transit’s share of trips increasing above 3%.
• Encourage the development of electric vehicle policies and programs.
• Facilitate the adoption of high-efficiency and grid-enabled vehicles and supportive infrastructure.
• Reduce fossil fuel use, air and water pollutants from transportation systems.
• Also has close associations with built environment, health and economic development goals and objectives.
