Galleries of Contemporary Art (GOCA) Virtual Experiences

Presented by GOCA (Gallery of Contemporary Art) at Online/Virtual Space

Find the Virtual Experiences here.

You are invited to follow GOCA on Facebook (@galleryuccs) and Instagram (@gocacolospgs) where we plan to share about our current and recent exhibition photos and videos and as well as the following virtual programming that you can participate in from your personal space, starting the 1st week in April:

GOCA raises funds to support our exhibitions and programs. They plan to provide funding for the artists, musicians, and poets and other creatives giving their time for studio visits in the coming weeks, so if that’s something you want to get behind, your contributions are very welcomed for this specific purpose at this time.

For their virtual art exhibits, GOCA is presenting "Seat of Learning" in the Campus Gallery and the UCCS Visual Art Majors Exhibition: "Apparition."

Seat of Learning (Campus Gallery)

Seat of Learning is an art installation investigating time, movement, memory, knowledge, and how we learn from material objects. The concept originated when the artists found a vintage school desk that encapsulated 20th-century early learning through its patina, material presence, and history of use. Gathering stories from a diverse range of individuals and objects from across the western United States and the Pikes Peak region, the artists have presented a selection as creative content for the final installation. Lackey and Lehn worked with UCCS students to create the installation, further layering the learning experience embodied by this installation.

UCCS Visual Art Majors Exhibition: Apparition

Artists Ashley Andersen, Bryan Bachmann, Lia Barud, Caroline Bodnar, Liz Bristle, Jem Brock, Seth Edwards, Christine Flores, Vincent Grego, Cheyenne Griswold, Tyler Haynie, Brooke Koster, Jennifer Marquez, Julia Mortenson, Emily Osur, Niki Puigdevall, Elizabeth Schmidt, and Martha Wheeler are featured in Apparition, the 14th annual exhibition of VAPA Senior Visual Artists at the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs. Their work evokes notions of identity and circumstance including but not limited to spirituality, inclusivity, and ephemera, centered on an introspective approach to personal experiences. We will be featuring our work on the instagram account @vauccs along with many other student exhibitions that have been cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The show will open virtually in April and runs through May 2020. Show your support for these emerging artists by following Facebook (@galleryuccs), @gocacolospgs on Instagram, and the GOCA Tumblr site.
