Creating Layers: Resist Techniques and Fiber Reactive Dyes

Presented by Textiles West at TWIL at the Manitou Art Center

In this class, students will use different mechanical resists such as corn dextrin and potato dextrin along with surface design techniques to create texture and layers.

Students will be making samples in different fabrics to understand how these resists work and how to directly apply thickened dye with these resists, using stamps, thermofax screens and brushes. Students will walk away with a samples binder for future reference.

The instructor for this class is Melanie Audet.

Instructor Bio:  Melanie Audet is originally from the Detroit area of Michigan. She received a BA from Albion College and a  BFA from the Oregon College of Art and Craft. She is the owner and proprietor of Melanie Audet Limited Editions.  Her love for textiles is more of a compulsion and she loves to share this passion with others.
