Still Manitou

Still Manitou

Presented by Manitou Art Center at Manitou Art Center

The Still Project is an art experience conceived by Manitou Art Center curator Alain Navaratne in collaboration with local photographer, Jana Kaiser.

Their intention is to mobilize the Manitou community and capture an authentic historical documentation of our residents during the stay-at-home order.

Jana will take photographs of Manitou families and individuals framed by their windows and doors, while respecting social-distancing guidelines. The aim is that these photographs will ultimately be combined to create a billboard size photo-montage, in addition to other community-wide opportunities.

The concept is to take these images of citizens, restricted in movement, separated from each other, and ultimately bring our citizens together through the powerful medium of this large-scale outdoor art.

The opening of the show would include a selection of the individual photographs hung in the MAC galleries. This will be conducted when the stay-at-home order has been lifted. The concept of an outdoor coming-together in our small community will provide an intentional human connection galvanized by the power of the camera lens.
