Call for Artists: Ivywild Improvement Society Murals

Call for Artists: Ivywild Improvement Society Murals

Presented by Ivywild Improvement Society at Cascade & Cheyenne Rd. (on bridge over Cheyenne Creek)

We are looking for two complementary murals that will face each other on the cement jersey barriers on the bridge crossing Cheyenne creek on Cascade Ave.

The theme must incorporate the colors, similar lettering, and the ivy that has been our trademark for decades. Additionally, the murals may include a nature or riparian theme to highlight the creek below, or preferably, an historical theme to enhance the history of the neighborhood.

Submitting artists will kindly contact the IIS (ivywild80905@gmail.com) to review the book on Ivywild history as design is considered.

The Ivywild Improvement Society has been active in the neighborhood since 1898, ten years after the town of Ivywild was created. Our tagline is: Home is Where the Heart Is. The Ivywild neighborhood is an historic neighborhood with rich culture and is undergoing great change with new development. IIS hopes to present these murals as a beautiful and inviting entrance into our historic neighborhood from Cheyenne Rd.

The submissions will be reviewed and the winning artwork will be chosen by a panel which will include the City’s Stormwater Enterprise, Neighborhood Services, The Downtown Partnership, CONO, the Cultural Office of the Pikes Peak Region, the Pikes Peak Library District and the Ivywild Improvement Society.

Please provide sketches to ivywild80905@gmail.com by May 31st.

We are exploring grants and sponsorship for artist stipend. Materials will be supplied by IIS. IIS requests that the chosen artist will incorporate volunteers from the neighborhood in completing the project. Art Installation to take place in Summer 2020.
