AHand2Hold Project

Presented by Sophie L Thunberg at Online/Virtual Space

The hands of our elders are the most vulnerable and least likely to be touched at this time. We're in an unprecedented moment of global reflection in the face of an invisible virus.

This virtual project needs your "hand selfie" & wisdom to uphold a culture of care. Let's honor our mentors’ teachings, by sharing pieces of perspective that have been imparted on you, to extend a hand to others.

As you think about this project, you may reflect on:

Who you would like to be holding hands with at this time? — whether that be a loved one who has passed, or returning to a moment in time where you felt really held.

What wisdom or perspective would you like to share with others? — maybe include what 'things' have held your hand over the years.

What piece of wisdom would you like to share with people right now?

Submit as many hand portraits for consideration. Wisdom can be as short as one-word. It can be as simple as a picture of your hand with one word written on it. Stories of a time when you felt truly held are also greatly welcomed.

To submit a hand portrait and piece of wisdom in any form (photo, video, audio, interviews, drawings, etc), contact: ToHoldAHand@gmail.com

A visual mural of hands together will be created as a tapestry of support to be shared with the city in public at the end of the summer, and posted to AHand2HoldProject.com

The piece of wisdom can come from an elder or mentor, a friend or partner, or directly from you. The wisdom we share represents the notion of a community of care, passed over time between generations, friends, family, and loved ones.
