Studio Visit with Phil & Diane Vallejo

Phil Vallejo, a Colorado Springs native born 1959, is a painter, sculptor & mural artist who was an early participant in the Pueblo Levee Mural Project. A student of Floyd Tunson, Bill Burgess & Nick Latka, he graduated from Palmer High & studied Fine Arts for 2 years at CSU Pueblo where his outdoor sculpture “3 Fold Education” is on permanent exhibit.

Phil's emotionally charged abstract paintings & sculptures have been exhibited at the Pirate & Core Galleries in Denver as well as the Bridge, Cottonwood, Modbo & Kreuser Galleries in Colorado Springs. He has numerous works in private collections throughout the United States & Mexico.

Diane Kathleen Vallejo, born 1957 in Texas, moved to Colorado Springs in 1976 where she majored in Arts at PPCC & UCCS while working at Novis Frame & Art as a framer & Chinook Bookshop as the front window & in store display artist.

She was awarded Best of Show for “Scarlett’s Dream” at Denver’s Niza Knoll Gallery Gone to the Dogs Show.

Diane exhibited at Colorado Springs Airport resulting in national sales & commissions.

She illustrated three children’s books for Monica Agnew-Kinnaman about Samson, a heroic Old English Sheepdog.

Diane has recently exhibited at The Bridge, Cottonwood, & Kreuser Galleries.

Her specialty is drawing & painting companion animals & wildlife. She works in both acrylic as well as colored & pastel pencil.
