Write Brain: Using Horror Tropes Across Genres

Write Brain: Using Horror Tropes Across Genres

Presented by Pikes Peak Writers at Online/Virtual Space

Horror is designed to elicit a strong emotional response from readers. Learn how to take the tools horror authors use to transform your writing and increase your emotional impact.

Shannon and MB will deconstruct common horror tropes, and illustrate how writers in any genre can use these elements. Learn a few new tricks...if you dare.

Your presenters:

A fan of all things fantastical and frightening, Shannon Lawrence writes primarily horror and fantasy. Her stories can be found in anthologies and magazines, and she has two horror collections available: Bruised Souls & Other Torments and Blue Sludge Blues & Other Abominations. When she's not writing, she's hiking through the wilds of Colorado and photographing her magnificent surroundings, where, coincidentally, there's always a place to hide a body or birth a monster. Find her at www.thewarriormuse.com.

MB Partlow grew up in a family that was part of the Witness Protection Program, and isn't legally allowed to talk about it. She overcame crippling shyness to pursue her dream of being an Olympic equestrian, but when that career path closed, she co-founded an outlaw motorcycle gang with a French Canadian mime named Frederick. She isn't legally allowed to talk about him, either. She currently enjoys being Teller to Shannon's Penn.
