Everything old is new again when the Smokebrush Red Crags Art and Agriculture House in Manitou Springs hosts an online Elderberry Syrup Workshop Wednesday, December 30!
Elderberries have been used in Central Europe and North America for hundreds of years as a preventative medicine for the cold, flu, and other upper respiratory diseases. When it’s made into sweet syrup with other herbs and spices it becomes a great natural substitute for over-the-counter cough syrups.
In this online workshop we’ll learn how to make a very old and traditional recipe for that syrup. We’ll also discuss the properties of every ingredient, the health-science behind elderberries, and a little about the cultures that gave us this Elderberry Syrup recipe.
All participants will receive a worksheet and ingredient list upon registration, so that you may purchase ingredients and follow along at home. However, local Colorado registrants will be able to pick up the Elderberry Syrup after the workshop, safely under no-contact guidelines.
