A presentation and discussion with social justice scholar, producer of the film and author of the book “Pushout: The Criminalization of Black Girls in Schools.”
Pikes Peak Community College is partnering with Rocky Mountain Women's Film and School District 49 to present an evening with Dr. Monique Morris, social justice scholar, producer of the film and author of the book "Pushout: The Criminalization of Black Girls in Schools."
She examines the ways in which Black communities, and other communities of color, are uniquely affected by social policies. Morris has written dozens of articles, book chapters, and other publications on social justice issues where her research intersects race, gender, education and justice.
Her three decades of experience allows her to actively lecture on research, policies, and practices associated with improving juvenile justice, education, and socioeconomic conditions for Black girls, women, and their families. The film can be screened for free online from Feb. 20-25. Please see separate Peak Radar Listing for details.
