2nd Annual National Poetry Month and Jazz Month Story Time

Presented by Lil' Miss Story Hour at African American Historical and Genealogical Society of Colorado Springs

On April 17, Lil’ Miss Story Hour will partner with the African American Historical and Genealogical Society of Colorado Springs for an engaging National Poetry and Jazz Month Story time event.

Book selections will include, "Little Melba and Her Big Trombone” by Kathryn Russell-Brown, selected biography poems from “Shaking Things Up” by Susan Hood, selected musical poems from “Feel the Beat” by Marilyn Singer, and selected poems from “Thunder Underground,” by Jane Yolen.

Special guests will include, CSU-Pueblo professor, poet, editor, and publisher, Juan J. Morales; Colorado Springs Poet, Educator, and Marital Artist, Andrew Ziegler; Poet and Activist, Goddess Tyescha; and Solo Violin Performer, Cellist, Pianist, and Multi-instrument Instructor, Harriet Landrum! Following the book readings and guest artist performances and appearances, there will be craft activity and Lil’ Miss Story Hour merchandise, tote bags, stickers and temporary tattoos will be available for purchase!

This event is taking place both virtually and in-person.

Admission Info

The event is open to the public, however, donations are encouraged. Suggested donation is $5 and up. Donations will be accepted on site for in-person attendees.
