Olympic City USA is gearing up for the excitement of the Olympic Games at the base of Pikes Peak with a community-wide Honk & Wave to help cheer on Team USA.
Residents, businesses and organizations are invited to participate in Colorado Springs - Olympic City USA's community-wide Honk & Wave for Team USA on July 23, the day of the Opening Ceremony for the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020. Help cheer on our hometown athletes competing in the Games, as well as the hundreds of staff members from the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Committee and the U.S. national governing bodies of sport who will be in Japan supporting Team USA. Here is how to participate:
Many intersections need Honk & Wave teams. A full list of intersections you can participate at can be viewed at ColoradoSprings.gov/HonkAndWave. Alternatively, your organization may designate their own Honk & Wave location. The goal is to have at least 10 participants at each intersection.
Posters and signs will be provided to teams and will be available for pick-up at the Colorado Springs Convention & Visitors Bureau (515 S. Cascade Ave). We encourage everyone to wear red, white, and blue colors and to supplement the signs with American flags, cowbells and other noisemakers. You are also more than welcome to create your own signs and posters.
Morning Honk & Waves are encouraged anytime between 6:30-8:30 a.m.; lunch-hour Honk & Waves are encouraged anytime between 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Please consider joining in for a quick hour of fun as a team-building and community-building event.
