Back to School Art Festival Story Time

Presented by Lil' Miss Story Hour at The Garden

On Saturday August 14, 2021, Lil’ Miss Story Hour will partner with The Garden for a back to school story time event. Lil' Miss Story Hour will be celebrating the excitement of a new school year with a variety of artists, art forms, crafts, presenters, and picture books! Explorations include but are not limited to writing, illustrations, mathematics, music, and social experiences.

Book selections will include “If You Take a Mouse to School" by Laura Numeroff; "The Name Jar" by Yangsook Choi; and "The Day You Begin," by Jacqueline Woodson.

Our special guests will be, Muralist, Visual Artist, and Entrepreneur, Jeresneyka Rose, aka, Rizzo; and Local Poet and Artist, LIndsay Maroney. Rizzo will be leading us in a creative and engaging chalk festival activity, and Lindsay will be leading us in a fun and engaging paint pour art activity. Following the book readings, art demos, and art activities, there will be a raffle drawing.

There will be a small vendor fair happening concurrently during the story time event and vendors will include ArtByRizzo with amazing artwork for sale; Poet and Artist, Lindsay Maroney with her chapbook and artwork for sale; and The Official Meltdown with super yummy ice cream, ice cream cones and popsicles for sale! Bring your taste buds!

Also, you may want to dress  your littles in clothing that can get messy, as we will be working outdoors with sidewalk chalk and paint!
