Join us on Saturday, May 14 or Sunday, May 15, 2022 for Run to the Shrine, Cheyenne Mountain Zoo’s annual fundraiser run/walk. This 4-mile casual run/walk winds through the Zoo and up to Will Rogers Shrine of the Sun, with giraffe, lions, and elephants along the way. Enjoy stunning views of Colorado Springs below while ascending nearly 1,000 feet in elevation, before descending back down into the Zoo.

Run to the Shrine is the ONLY time foot traffic is allowed on Shrine Road. Participants will start the ascent at their leisure, and there will be no official timing services.

The race is a great route for competitive athletes, weekend warriors, casual walkers and families of all ages. Jogging strollers with tethers and automatic hand brakes are welcome!

Run to the Shrine registration includes Zoo admission until 8 p.m. and a commemorative performance T-shirt featuring our penguin mascot. (T-shirt sizes are available while supplies last. Register soon to get your preferred size.)  All proceeds help feed and care for Cheyenne Mountain Zoo's animals. Since the Zoo does not receive any tax support, community fundraisers like Run to the Shrine help keep the Zoo “running.”
