Announcing the return of the Southern Colorado Handbell Alliance, Inc. 39th Annual Southern Colorado Handbell Festival!
After a year’s absence due to the pandemic, the Southern Colorado Handbell Alliance announces the return of our Annual Southern Colorado Handbell Festival for the 39th year on February 19, 2022, at Roy J. Wasson Academic Campus.
The community is invited to join the celebration as the festival culminates in a free public concert. The 2022 Festival Conductor is Jason Krug, widely-known composer and arranger of a variety of types of music, including handbell music. Jason is also a clinician held in very high regard by handbell musicians across the country. Jason hails from Indianapolis, Indiana, and is an author in his spare time.
Nearly 140 handbell ringers, representing 14 handbell ensembles from across the state, will begin rehearsing at 8:00 a.m. Saturday morning to prepare for their exciting closing concert. Joined by the Pikes Peak Brass (a professional brass and percussion ensemble), the concert is free and open to the public. However, the audience will be able to show its appreciation for this unique concert through a free-will offering near the end.
Much unlike previous years, parking is readily available in the school parking lots. Please use the South Lot where there is plenty of handicapped parking as well as an elevator entrance to the facility.
Begun in 1983 as a way to bring together hundreds of dedicated ringers with the general public, the Southern Colorado Handbell Alliance, Inc., received its 501(c)(3) designation in May 2014.
