The Colorado Springs Pioneers Museum presents the 2022 lecture series, featuring a wide range of speakers offering diverse perspectives and unique insights on Pikes Peak regional history.
About the Program:
In honor of National Women’s History Month, the CSPM’s Curator of History Leah Davis Witherow will be presenting an illustrated program: Colorado Springs’ Women You Should Know. From our founding as a community, women have shaped Colorado Springs, the West, and even the nation in ways that often go unrecognized. Advocates, activists, authors, and artists – the women described in this program may be familiar in name but rarely in detail. By sharing their powerful stories, we can more fully appreciate their (and our own) roles in history.
About the Presenter:
Leah Davis Witherow is the Curator of History for the Colorado Springs Pioneers Museum. She has a B.A. and M.A. in History and received her archival training at the Modern Archives Institute at NARA in Washington, D.C. She has curated over three dozen history exhibits for the CSPM and is the Project Director for the Museum’s award-winning interactive storytelling platform, the Story of Us. Additionally, she has taught courses in nineteenth and early twentieth-century American History for twenty-one years at UCCS, specializing in the history of Colorado, Labor, the Progressive Era, and Women. In 2014 she was selected as the College of Letters, Arts and Sciences Outstanding Lecturer of the Year, and was recognized as a 2018 Woman of Influence by the Colorado Springs Business Journal.
For 2022, we are thrilled to return to an in-person format. While the series is free, reservations are required. When you arrive for a lecture, we will have a check-in process for registered guests.
If you cannot join us for the in-person program, a recording of the lecture will be available the week after the event to watch at cspm.org/lectureseries. Due to the ongoing nature of the COVID-19 pandemic, we reserve the right to move the lecture to a virtual format. Please check www.cspm.org/lectureseries for any updates.
