Led by Jen Mulson, this class is for those who feel called to tell the stories of their lives, whether for possible publication or fun.
Is there a song that constantly runs in the background of your life? Do you have an unusual friendship? A lifelong obsession with a particular spice? All are potential topics for a personal essay. This class is for those who feel called to tell the stories of their lives, whether for possible publication or fun. Finding your voice in short narrative form can also jump start the process of writing a memoir.
We’ll use different techniques to douse for memories and ideas, including in-class writing bursts, and somatic exercises, like short meditations, breathwork and gentle yoga poses, to help us write from our hearts and bodies. If movement isn’t available for you, no problem. Everything can be modified. Beginning and experienced writers welcome. Let’s write a lot, and come away with a few finished pieces, as well as a heap of story ideas.
