Queer Open Mic feat. Gee 'Gingy' Riley

Presented by Keep Colorado Springs Queer at The Hall at PPLD

The Keep Colorado Springs Queer open mic has been providing a space of art and community for the local LGBTQIA2+ community since 2016. We are back in person this May! The stage is open to anyone who identities as LGBTQIA2+, and all are welcome to be in the audience. The open mic will be followed by a feature performance by Denver musician, Gingy!

About your feature:

Gee ‘Gingy’ Riley comes to us from Chicago but has proudly called Colorado their home for nearly the past 4 years. A proud black non-binary creative, Gee’s pronouns are they/them.

Starting from elementary school band(s) to college passion projects, Gee has transitioned their love for music and creativity into a solo career as Gingy and the occasional feature as Huneedoo with a 7-piece Jazz-fusion band ‘Joe Smith and The Spicy Pickles. They are always open to collaborations with other talented and dedicated artists.

After a myriad of theater, musical theater, and singing experiences in their earlier years, Gee turned their sights on poetry. Viewing the connection between music and poetry as something intangible yet intrinsic, the transition was an agreeable one. Many of their songs begin as an emotional poetic outpouring and morph into a tune somewhere along the way as the melody overlays in their mind.
