Composting: The Whats, Whys, and Hows

Presented by Sustainable Educational Experience (SEE) at SEE Outdoor Classroom

Class Description:
You will come away with a deeper knowledge of the essence of composting, what it is and why it is so important, and how you and your household can start doing it TODAY! Get hands-on practice in building a compost pile and using finished compost on established plants and garden beds. Participants will get to take home finished compost.

Instructor:
Zach Brown is owner of Brown’s Greens LLC, an Urban Agriculture and Curbside Composting company in Colorado Springs. Zach holds certifications in Urban Agriculture and Landscape Contracting, and has had his hands in the dirt since he was a kid. He has expertise and an acute interest in soil health and composting, and before launching the Brown’s Greens Curbside Composting services in 2019, he was an avid backyard composter for several years. Now, his business has diverted almost 35 TONS of food waste from landfills since the launch of its Curbside Composting services two years ago, and through partnership with Don’s Garden Shop has turned that waste into fertile compost and returned it to the community!
