Botanical Watercolors for Beginners: Painting Pansies

Presented by Sustainable Educational Experience (SEE) at SEE Garden and Outdoor Classroom

Participants will be led by Botanical Illustrator, Helen Smithwick, in the painting of pansies using watercolors. Learn techniques to capture these seasonal moments of awe and wonder, while gaining confidence to paint perhaps your first masterpiece!  Located at the SEE (Sustainable Educational Experience) Garden & Outdoor Classroom.

Instructor:
Helen Smithwick
is a botanical illustrator, residing in Colorado Springs. After retirement, Helen returned to her first love – drawing and painting. She began taking classes at the School of Botanical Art and Illustration at the Denver Botanic Gardens in 2010, where she graduated with distinction after completing the requirements for the Foundational Certificate in Botanical Art and Illustration in 2013.  She received the Sydney Parkinson Award for excellence in botanical illustration and best overall portfolio of her graduating class. She is a member of the Commonwheel Artists Co-op in Manitou Springs, where her work is currently displayed.

SEE is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit located on the border of Colorado Springs and Black Forest, providing experiential education about agriculture, sustainable living, the local ecosystem and whole system design, and artisanship.
