'Finding Ancestors Before 1850'

'Finding Ancestors Before 1850'

Presented by Pikes Peak Genealogical Society at Online/Virtual Space

Pre-1850 research can be difficult. The federal census does not list everyone in the household by name and many localities do not have civil vital records. This session will explore some record groups and research strategies for moving your ancestral lines beyond the mid-19th century.

A Certified Genealogist, Amy Johnson Crow holds a master’s degree in library and information science. She has worked at Ancestry.com, served as the series editor for the National Genealogical Society Guides, and was the co-author of Online Roots in that series.
Amy is the author of 31 Days to Better Genealogy, a resource guide filled with practical tips you can put into practice right away, as well as more than 40 articles in various genealogical publications. Amy has never turned down an offer to go visit a cemetery.
