Cinema in the Park: 'Summer of Soul'

Presented by Rocky Mountain Women's Film at Monument Valley Park

Rocky Mountain Women's Film is celebrating our 35th year with a number of events throughout the month of August. Cinema in the Park will kickoff our birthday festivities with delicious food, good music, and a film under the stars. Starting at 6:30 p.m., we will be offering food trucks and music. The feature film, 'Summer of Soul', will start at dusk, approximately 8:45 p.m.

This event is free with registration thanks to our presenting sponsor, Sachs Foundation.

Film Description:

Over the course of six weeks in the summer of 1969, just one hundred miles south of Woodstock, The Harlem Cultural Festival was filmed in Mount Morris Park (now Marcus Garvey Park). The footage was never seen and largely forgotten—until now. 'Summer of Soul' shines a light on the importance of history to our spiritual well-being and stands as a testament to the healing power of music during times of unrest, both past and present.
