Join us for the 100-year Centennial Celebration of the Historic Black Forest Log School,! Enjoy children’s games, tours of the Log School, ice cream, and a quilt show fundraiser.
The Black Forest Log School is a log building listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is the only surviving example of the many log schools that once existed in the area. It was built by the Black Forest community in 1922 on donated land, using donated logs, labor, and equipment.
The Friends of the Black Forest Log School, in partnership with the Black Forest Community Club, are excited to announce the 100-year Centennial Celebration of the historic Black Forest Log School on Saturday and Sunday, September 10th and 11th at the Black Forest Community Center and Log School Park. The 100th Anniversary Centennial Celebration is a fun event to celebrate the heritage of the Log School and to raise funds to help maintain the historic building in the heart of the Black Forest community.
The Centennial Celebration begins on Saturday, September 10th with tours of the historic schoolhouse, a Quilt Show Fundraiser in the Community Center, and children’s games in the Log School Park. The children’s games will feature popular games from the 1920’s and there will also be discounted ice cream from Rizuto’s Ice Cream Truck.
All proceeds from the Centennial Celebration go toward the Log School’s campaign to help provide desperately needed chinking for the Log School’s 100-year-old Ponderosa pine logs.
The Log School Open House and children’s games are free, and Rizuto’s ice cream will be available at reduced prices courtesy of the Log School and the Community Club.
Tickets are required for the Quilt Show and are $5 at the door (cash only).
