In celebration of Arts Month 2022, Hunter-Wolff Gallery in partnership with Golden Lotus Foundation is inviting you to experience Asian art and culture. Since 2011, the Golden Lotus Foundation has worked to catalyze a lively local scene centered around the experience of Asian art and cultural traditions, primarily from China, Japan, Korea, the Philippines, Vietnam, and India.
Hunter-Wolff Gallery is featuring Raku, a Japanese inspired pottery during Arts Month with an emphasis on work by studio artists Tony Heslop, Marc Jenesel, and Mark Wong.
Visit Hunter-Wolff Gallery during October 2-8 to learn about Raku pottery art pieces by these accomplished Colorado Springs artists.
Raku is a Japanese style ceramic ware traditionally crafted by hand during the 16th century in Kyoto, Japan. The practice is characterized by the removal of the clay object from the kiln at the height of the firing, placing it in a separate container with organic materials and causing it to cool very rapidly. Raku ware was originally created for tea ceremonies and is a beautiful collectible today.
