Mu Phi Epsilon International Competition winner, Flutist Hannah Porter Occeña, will perform with Susan Grace, Pianist, at Colorado College.
The 2021 winner of the Mu Phi Epsilon Professional International Music Fraternity, flutist Hannah Porter Occeña , will present a concert with collaborative pianist, Susan Grace. Hailed by the New York Times as possessing “rich tone and deft technique,” Dr. Porter Occeña is Assistant Professor of Flute at the University of Northern Iowa and Principal Flutist of the Topeka Symphony Orchestra (Topeka, KS). The 2012 Irene Burchard prizewinner at the Royal Academy of Music, Dr. Occeña has performed as an orchestral soloist, recitalist, and clinician throughout the US and abroad. This concert, sponsored by the Colorado Springs Alumni Chapter of Mu Phi Epsilon, will highlight women composers of the 20th Century. These pieces are heartfelt, lyrical, and beautiful.
