'The Reigning Queen of the Minor Key: Eilen Jewell & Her Band'

'The Reigning Queen of the Minor Key: Eilen Jewell & Her Band'

Presented by Friends House Concerts at Friends House Concerts

Eilen carefully weaves all emotions - joy, pain, love, indignation, wonder, and everything else into her music and an evening of stories that will stay with you forever. It's like turning the last page of a great novel and the characters just stay inside your head.

What do the experts have to say?

Rolling Stone Country: Inspired by modern-day sexism and inequality, “79 Cents (The Meow Song)” blends satire with scathing indictments. The song’s mix of gypsy jazz and old-timey folk music goes down easy, but it’s Jewell’s clever writing — particularly her final verse, where she references President Trump’s comments about grabbing women’s genitals — that delivers the knockout blow, adding substance to a song that’s also rich in old-world style.
MOJO: At the core of Jewell’s eighth studio album is a set of self-penned cosmic-country songs on which the singer addresses both the personal and the political, her smoky voice and back in band in killer form throughout.

American Songwriter: This remains yet another diverse, refined and intermittently provocative release from an experienced singer-songwriter who consistently provides the Americana goods with cleverness, class and style.

More simply - it's a great night of Americana music. Her band will rock you! She\'s playing up in Denver at Swallow Hill the night before, but wouldn't it be better to meet here and feel the vibrations in a living room?!
