In December, Springs Ensemble Theatre will present this chaotic and irreverent holiday comedy by a local Colorado Springs playwright.
Springs Ensemble Theatre presents Holly Jolly Holy Sh!t as part of the 2022 Give! Campaign. Holly Jolly is an original, nontraditional holiday comedy written by local playwright Kate Hertz and directed by Steve Emily. Aptly described as being a Christmas play “in the same way that Die Hard is a Christmas movie,” the show centers around Milo, a slick, smooth-talking slacker who only looks out for himself. To make extra cash, he uses his skills to help law enforcement de-escalate delicate situations. Meanwhile, an activist for underprivileged children is putting her life on the line right before Christmas to defend an important community center from demolition. Milo has been assigned to lure her out of the building over the phone, but runs into a problem; she may be the one person he can’t swindle that easily. What follows is a hilarious and heart-wrenching caper as our antihero learns the importance of justice, honesty, and not being a totally insufferable jerk.
